About the game from Steam

This is the tale of a kingdom, its hapless denizens, and a man who knows what he wants.

Richard Torrance is a man of many qualities; a self-willed and powerful yet deeply dissatisfied man. Each moment in his life has been molded by his control alone. However, underneath his domineering mantle lies a gnawing emptiness that no mere achievement can satisfy - until one day. Whether due to fate or bare luck, he is thrust into a Faustian bargain; one which will redefine the future, present, and past.

Able to finally pursue the simple yet ever elusive concept of happiness, Richard is increasingly drawn into bizarre, disturbing, and surreal places that should not exist. As he descends into a nightmarish world where reality and madness begin to blur, his desperate need for control becomes an obsession, forcing him to question whether the greatest threat to his own salvation is himself or those around him.

An Impossible World, To Be Molded In Your Image

Stuck between reality and dream, past and future, ancient and modern lies a tragic kingdom. Defined by neither the old or the new, it impossibly blurs the lines between industry and medieval. Stark iron factories merge into crumbling castles, moss-covered rocky streams lead to gas stations, grassy knolls hide unimaginable horror. Here there are sinners, heretics, gods - and you, Richard.

A Battle For Control, More Than Survival

Richard is not a man frozen by fear. His fight for survival is a fight for control as much as it is a fight for his livelihood. Explore unimaginable and surreal landscapes, solve puzzles with wit, master unique combat tactics to battle enemies, and discover the tactics needed to best challenging bosses.

Your Word is Your Will

The world of BECROWNED is complex, conflicting, and challenging. You are not alone, and your relationships have transcended the reality you once defined. The lives and futures of others are in your hands. Will you spare a repentant killer? Will you risk your resources to save a martyr-to-be from a gruesome death? For all actions, you will suffer the consequences. Featuring long winding relationships, an amorphous world, and an array of endings, your word is truly your will - now and forever.

Director-Driven Auteurship Meets Classic Staples

Building from the traditional survival horror formula, BECROWNED aims to pay tribute to classic features of genre while forging an identity that is unique to itself - built from the foundation of genre staples, BECROWNED aims to defy expectations through unique player freedoms, worldbuilding, and cinematic and literary touchstones.

Where The Past Meets The Present

Much like the game's dark fantasy-meets-industrial horror world, BECROWNED features captivating neo-retro visuals that pay tribute to the past while also elevating the beauty of the game's world. Deep, distressing corridors and crumbling chapels are juxtaposed next to beautiful shorelines and glowing horizons.
