About Indie Games Wiki

Indie Games Wiki is a free wiki of community guides for indie games: beginner tips, common questions and key mechanics. Reviewed guides say how and when they were checked. Anyone can join and help.

How guides are made

Guides are checked against published sources, not play-tested. Editors read official manuals, developer and publisher posts, patch notes, platform achievement lists and community-maintained game data, then explain what they found in their own words. Official sources are linked beside the claims they support.

A guide's review note records how and when it was checked. "Source review" means the editor read the sources and did not test anything in the game. When a contributor does check something in the game, the note says so and records the platform and game version.

Some guides are editorial imports: the site adds them in batches with its own import tools instead of a personal account. Their edits are credited to "Indie Games Wiki editors" in page histories, recent changes and the RSS feed. They follow the same sourcing rules, and anyone can correct or expand them.

Game facts, screenshots and store descriptions come from Steam. The facts, the screenshots and the "About the game" text are refreshed daily while a game is upcoming and weekly for its first 60 days after release. Other games keep their Steam details until an admin refreshes them. Every edit to a guide is kept in its history, where you can compare versions and see who changed what, and each page has its own discussion.

How anyone can help

Fix a mistake, add a missing source, or check a guide in your own game and note the platform and version you used. Start with a small editing task, read the editing guidelines, and watch a page to follow later edits in your watchlist. Replies to your comments show up in notifications.

Want a game added?

Submit its Steam store URL through the game request form. Requests have a public status and review notes, and you can volunteer to help write the wiki when it is added.

Coverage today

Each game wiki carries a coverage label: "No guides yet" means it has only Steam information and a starter page, "Guides in progress" means it has at least one guide, and "Developed wiki" means it has at least 5 complete guides. Labels describe coverage, not accuracy, so check a guide's review note and history before relying on details that can change with patches.
